Are You Ready to Make the Leap🏄‍♀️?-Transitioning from Corporate Life to Entrepreneurship

"Should I leave my corporate job and become an entrepreneur?" This is a question my coaching clients often ask. It has many facets, and I am sharing some personal perspectives on those with you.

💭 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿? Is there a belief and purpose that drives you beyond personal gain? For me, the establishment of GC Consulting was motivated by a desire to foster a global customer-centric community that is passionate about cultivating returning customers. This larger purpose not only serves as a powerful motivator during tough times or when the market is less responsive than desired, but also brings a sense of fulfilment and personal growth, reminding me that my work is about something bigger than just me.

💭 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱/𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲? Imagine your passion is pastry making, and you excel at creating sleek gifting-style cookies. Research and determine whether there is a market demand that craves your unique creations. The alignment of these three elements is not just a business opportunity, but a solid foundation for a successful venture.

💭 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? As Daniel Priestley said, " You get what you pitch for, and you are always pitching." In order to find our potential customers, we have to first share with the world who we are, what we stand for, and what "problems" we help solve. I used to post once a year on Linked In during my corporate years, and nowadays, I show up here on at least a weekly basis. Find your preferred channel and tools to present yourself and your work to the world - this could be LinkedIn (for those more comfortable writing just like me), Instagram (for the more visual and artistic ones) or YouTube (if you have a talent in front of the camera).

💭 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? For entrepreneurs, our network is our net worth. You will need a lot of support along the journey, so having a community of people who share similar values with you, who are willing to promote you, become your customers, give you advice, cheer for you, or offer a shoulder to cry on... is going to be extremely important.

To my fellow friends who have undertaken the journey from corporate to entrepreneur, I'd love to know what you would add to the list 💫 !
